Community Meeting (August): On the last stretch of The Hollow Choice Neighborhood journey

About fifty residents gathered for our final community meeting on Thursday, August 21st at Lafayette (Nanny Goat) Park located in the heart of The Hollow. Residents from The Hollow and the Greene Homes, who have been involved since the beginning of the Choice process, as well as new neighbors, were all eager to hear about the final transformation plan. The focus of this meeting was to review goals, strategies, and projects for the Final Plan elements and updates on the Early Action Activities. Participants initiated an exchange of reflections and a collective sense of ownership as they helped shape the last steps of this collective effort.
The latest updates on the Early Action Activities included the improvements to The X and The Hollow Plaza, located at Washington and Highland. The most exciting highlight was the recently completed mural painting, as all those who visited this station were invited to visit it. This station also featured a banner prototype as part of the upcoming beautification projects on Madison and Main St aimed at celebrating The Hollow's character and identity.
The People element showcased projects on health, wellness, and education where attendees learned about ideas for creating education pipelines that span all ages, increasing accessibility to health and wellness services, and enhancing economic stability for Park City Communities residents.
A large interactive map of the neighborhood was our feature tool to showcase Housing and Neighborhood strategies and projects. Neighborhood projects include key themes such as The Hollow connections, accessibility, identity, and safety. The map also showcased the proposed redevelopment for The Greenes and potential additional housing sites through physical models. The map was populated with input cards that residents filled out with their insights and feedback. The station also featured descriptive boards with illustrations where participants could visualize and provide their input on streetscape improvements aimed at the pedestrian experience on selected key intersections. Residents shared their excitement about activating open spaces through programming and physical interventions.
At each station, participants found additional cards with prompts that invited them to share what projects or strategies or elements of this community vision they were the most excited about
Several partners also joined for this special day, including Groundwork, New Reach and Abra Dental. The community enjoyed a lively performance by Dynamic Rosette Dolls, while youth playing basketball brought life to the Lafayette Park courts offering a glimpse into the park’s potential as a vibrant and activated space. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this final meeting a success. We look forward with excitement and hope to the future ahead for The Hollow’s community.
