About

Bridgeport Harbor Station Map

The City of Bridgeport is conducting a comprehensive site reuse plan to evaluate potential new uses for the property of the former Bridgeport Harbor coal-fired power plant, located at 1 Atlantic Street, which was decommissioned in 2021. The planning study will aim to explore new uses that help to create new jobs, generate tax revenue, and create amenities for Bridgeport residents.

The site reuse study will look at short-term and long-term processes, procedures, and associated costs related to the redevelopment and reuse of the site. Factors such as economic viability, alignment with the community’s vision, and environmental impacts will be carefully considered. The primary objective of this planning process is to create a reuse plan that reflects the community's values and vision for the future development of Bridgeport.

The power plant site redevelopment aligns with the City of Bridgeport's comprehensive vision plan, Plan Bridgeport, which aims to transform Bridgeport into a more livable, equitable, and economically thriving city. Additionally, the project aligns with the City's Waterfront Plan, emphasizing a commitment to prioritizing public access to the waterfront.
