Bridgeport Waterfront
With over 24 miles of waterfront, the opportunities for this Bridgeport asset are endless.
In 2017, Bridgeport passed a Waterfront Plan with five main goals:
- Increase public access to and along the waterfront
- Create jobs and economic prosperity for residents
- Repurpose vacant or abandoned properties
- Encourage water-based recreation and an active waterfront
- Boost resiliency to protect against climate change effects
Bridgeport is working with the Trust for Public Land and other community organizations to implement this plan.

This month, Trust for Public Land is thrilled to welcome Stantec as the design team for upcoming park improvements along Waterview Avenue. Together with Trust for Public Land, the City of Bridgeport, MetroCOG, and Groundwork Bridgeport, Stantec will be engaging the community this fall to shape designs for:
Waterview Park
The city owned site across from Barnum School
Public improvements at the MOVE Yacht Club site
These improvements will bring more features, easier access to the waterfront, and nature-based upgrades. The plan will be shaped by ideas from residents, the Waterfront Advisory Board, and community partners. At this September meeting, weβll walk these three sites together, get a feel for the opportunities, and start imagining whatβs possible.
See you by the waterfront! The Waterfront Advisory Board is a group of local residents and experts who work with the City to help carry out the Waterfront Master Plan. Meetings are usually at 6:00pm on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Everyone is welcome to join! For more information, feel free to reach out to:
